Martinez, Adelphia
Born into San Ildefonso Pueblo in 1935, the daughter of Louis and Juanita Wo Peen Gonzales, Adelphia Martinez grew up in a pottery-making household. She learned the whole process through natural osmosis: watching and working with her parents and her aunt, Rose Gonzales.
Adelphia first appeared in the marketplace in the 1950s. Her work has been displayed in several major exhibits and she earned at least one First Place award at the Santa Fe Indian Market.
She mostly made incised pots and plates and plain pots.
