Martinez, Annie

Annie Aguilar Martinez is a potter from San Ildefonso Pueblo. Her mother, Rosalie Simbola, married José Aguilar and moved from Picuris Pueblo to his home at San Ildefonso. Rosalie learned how to make San Ildefonso pottery from her mother-in-law, Susana Martinez Aguilar. Both Rosalie and Susana then made pottery and Joe painted it for both of them. Annie grew up in that creative atmosphere, watching and working with them all.

Annie was a participant for a while in the 1970s at the Heard Museum Guild Indian Art Fair & Market and the Santa Fe Indian Market.
