Vigil, Art

Art Vigil was a potter from Tesuque Pueblo. He learned how to make pottery through watching and working with his mother, Anna Marie Lovato, while he was growing up at Santo Domingo. He returned to his grandparents home at Tesuque later on and learned to make figures by working with them. Art made mostly nativities and figures: dancers, bison and eagles. Like his grandparents often did, he would fire his pieces and then decorate them with acrylic paints.
