Naranjo, Barbarita

Maria Barbarita Naranjo (1917-1984) was the daughter of Pasqualita Gutierrez Tafoya of Santa Clara Pueblo. She was the niece of Sarafina Tafoya and cousin of Margaret Tafoya. She was the aunt of Cresencia Tafoya, Gloria Goldenrod Garcia, Lois Gutierrez and Minnie Vigil.

She married Jose Dolores Naranjo and they had three children: Mary Scarborough, Nathaniel Naranjo and Veronica Naranjo. Barbarita taught her daughters to make pottery and they lived together and made pottery together most of their lives.

Barbarita was known for her carved and painted redware and blackware.
