Cain, Billy

Born into Santa Clara Pueblo in 1950, Billy Cain was the son of Mary Cain and grandson of Christina Naranjo. He grew up watching and working with them as they made pottery.

Billy produced carved redware and blackware, jars and bowls. His favorite design to carve was the avanyu, although he was also fond of carving non-traditional designs in his more creative pottery. Billy passed on in 2006.
