Arras, Blanca

Blanca Isela Arras was born in Nuevo Casas Grandes in 1971. Nuevo Casas Grandes is located where the road from Mata Ortiz meets the highway in the city. Many Mata Ortiz potters have moved to Nuevo Casas Grandes for the schools and the conveniences. Blanca went the other way: she moved to Mata Ortiz and learned how to make pottery.

Blanca seems to like to make sgraffito and multi-color painted designs of hummingbirds, butterflies, branches, leaves and flowers. She signs most of her pieces: Blanca Isela Arras Olivas.
