Charlie, Brenda

Born in January, 1963, Brenda (Chino) Charlie is the daughter of Patrick and Emmalita Chino of Acoma Pueblo. Monica Chino is her sister, Margaret Charlie her grandmother.

Emmalita learned how to make pottery from Patrick’s mother, Marie Z. Chino. Brenda learned how to make pottery through watching and working with her mother and grandmother as she was growing up. She’s been active as a potter since about 1987. She makes traditional and ceramic polychrome jars and bowls.
