Moquino, Camille

Born into Santa Clara Pueblo in August, 1979, Camille Moquino is the daughter of Yolanda Velarde and James Moquino, Sr., granddaughter of Corn Moquino.

While most other members of her family prefer to work in the sgraffito style, Camille prefers to work in black-on-black (painted) styles. Her favorite designs are the avanyu (the mythic Tewa water serpent), rain clouds and feathers.

Camille began showing her pottery at the Eight Northern Pueblos Arts & Crafts Show and the Rio Grande Arts & Crafts Show in 1996. Her first appearance at Santa Fe Indian Market was in 1998.
