Naranjo, Celestina

Celestina Naranjo was the daughter of Pasqualita Gutierrez and Severiano Tafoya of Santa Clara Pueblo. Margaret Tafoya, Christina Naranjo and Camilio Tafoya were her cousins. She learned how to make pottery through watching and working with her mother as she grew up. She lived from 1912 to 1999.

Celestina mostly made polychrome redware bowls and plates. Her favorite designs to paint were rain clouds and kiva steps. She was a participant in the Santa Fe Indian Market and the Eight Northern Pueblos Arts & Crafts Show for more than a decade, up until a couple years before she died.
