Gachupin, Clara
Clara Gachupin was born into Jemez Pueblo in November 1948. Her parents were Jose Maria and Reyes S. Toya, her grandparents Andrieta and Juanita Shendo. She said she learned how to make pottery from her mother. She made mostly polychrome jars, bowls, seed pots and wedding vases.
Clara was a participant in the Santa Fe Indian Market and the Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Arts and Crafts Show for many years, beginning around 1995. She earned a First Place award for a polychrome jar at Santa Fe in 1998.
