Veloz, Claudia

Claudia Veloz is a second-generation potter from the village of Mata Ortiz in northern Mexico. She learned how to make pottery as she was growing up, watching and working with her mother, Carmen Veloz. Unlike her mother, though, Claudia mostly works with sgraffito designs on black and white pots.
