Lucero, Clayton

Jemez Pueblo potter Clayton Lucero
Clayton Lucero was born to Diane Lucero of Jemez Pueblo in December, 1985. He grew up in a house full of potters but he wasn’t interested in making pottery himself until after he finished high school. Then he went to work with his parents and learned the traditional ways.

Today, Clayton tells us he’s happiest when making storytellers, bears and nativities.

Clayton says he gets his inspirations from his parents: how they see life and how they transpose that view into their pottery. He says that has contributed to him being an outgoing man with a good sense of humor. He works hard to convey that with his works.
