Lucero, Diane

Diane Lucero was born into Jemez Pueblo in 1966. While her mother, Mary Lucero, is a well-known potter, she says she learned more about making pottery from Joseph Fragua. She’s been making pottery for more than 20 years and has passed her knowledge and techniques on to her son, Clayton Lucero. Her favorite pieces to make are Santa Claus storytellers and female storytellers with skirts.

Diane has participated in the annual Labor Day Santo Domingo Arts and Crafts Fair and in the Eight Northern Pueblos Arts and Crafts Show. She tells us she gets her inspiration from the people around her. She especially loves kids and making pottery. You can see her joy in the faces of her storytellers.
