Naranjo-Neikrug, Dolly
Dolly Naranjo-Neikrug was born into Santa Clara Pueblo in 1947. She’s the daughter of Rose Naranjo and mother of Jody Naranjo and Elijah Naranjo Smith. She learned how to make pottery by watching and working with her mother while she was growing up.
Rose Naranjo was an educator and often appeared on TV programs aimed at showing young children how to make traditional Native American pottery. Rose and Dolly often appeared together on the educational children’s program Reading Rainbow.
Dolly was a participant in the Santa Fe Indian Market for years, earning a Third Place ribbon for a non-traditional, innovative new form in 1983. Her children inherited that innovation streak from her.
