Toya, Dolores

Dolores Toya is a potter from Jemez Pueblo. She learned how to make pottery the traditional way: through watching and working with her mother, Estella Toya, as she made pottery. Among her siblings are Lucy and Lyda Toya. Josephine Toya is her daughter, Dorell Toya her niece.

Dolores mostly makes polychrome jars, bowls, wedding vases, storytellers and nativities. She sometimes signs her name “Delores Toya” but usually she signs “Dolores Toya”.
