Tenorio, Doris

Doris Gutierrez Tenorio is a potter from Santa Clara Pueblo. She was born in 1952. Her mother was Teresa Gutierrez, her grandmother Rosita Velarde. She is the sister of Marie Suazo, Carol Velarde, Earl Gutierrez, Ivan Gutierrez and Tony Gutierrez Jr.

Doris learned to make pottery through watching and working with her mother and grandmother as she grew up. Like her mother and sisters, Doris specializes in deep carving intricate designs into small pieces of pottery.

Doris has been a long-time participant in the Santa Fe Indian Market and the Eight Northern Pueblos Arts & Crafts Show, earning multiple ribbons for carved and carved miniature bowls at both.
