Lewis, Drew
Andrew “Drew” Lewis was the son of Acoma Pueblo potter Lucy M. Lewis. Born into the Roadrunner Clan in 1927, Drew learned how to make pottery through watching and working with his famous mother. Unlike his sisters, Emma, Mary, Anne, Margaret, Dolores, Cecilia and Carmel, Drew wasn’t really an active potter until he was in his 50s. Even so, Drew was one of the first men at Acoma to make pottery.
Drew mostly made Anasazi-Revival black-on-white and traditional polychrome jars, bowls, seed pots, pitchers and canteens. He was a regular participant in the Santa Fe Indian Market for almost 20 years, earning multiple ribbons over the years. He passed on in 2005.
