Silveira, Estrella

Angela Estrella Silveira Hernandez is a potter from the village of Mata Ortiz in northern Mexico. She’s earned multiple ribbons for her painting on pottery, including several at the annual Concurso Ceramica de Mata Ortiz and at the Women Potters of Mata Ortiz show at the Southwest Desert Museum in Tucson. In 2020 she earned a Third Place ribbon for a white-polychrome piece at the Concurso. In 2017 and 2018 she’d earned First Place prizes in the White Polychrome division.

She usually signs her pieces “Estrella Silveira.”
