Vigil, Ethel

Ethel Vigil was a potter from Santa Clara Pueblo. She was born to Mida Tafoya in 1950 and passed on in 2021. Her grandmother was Christina Naranjo. Among her siblings were Sherry Tafoya, Phyllis Tafoya and Mike Tafoya. Kimberly Garcia is her daughter.

Ethel produced both highly polished red pieces and highly polished black pieces. She enjoyed carving deep avanyu designs in them, like those she learned from her mother and grandmother.
