Ortiz, Fabian

Fabian David Ortiz Ortega is the son of Nicolas Ortiz, one of the first modern day potters in Mata Ortiz. Nicolas made a name for himself working with black-on-black figures and animals. Fabian has made a name for himself with brightly painted geometric designs and Paquimé Revival designs on both large and small jars.

At the 2016, 2018 and 2019 Concurso Ceramica de Mata Ortiz, Fabian earned the First Place awards in the Non-Traditional Color, with or without design, category.
