Sandoval, Genoveva

Genoveva Sandoval was a second generation potter from the village of Mata Ortiz in northern Mexico. Her parents were Antonio Sandoval and Refugio Mendoza. Her husband was potter Nicolas Silveira. Together, she and Nicolas had eight children. For many years they all worked together producing, small, low-cost pottery. As the children grew up and married off, some continued working as potters while others did other things.

Tavo, Arminda, Armando, Silvia and Veronica had good careers as potters, and they all taught their own children how to make pottery, too.
