Mahle, Gloria

Gloria Mahle is a Hopi potter from the village of Sichomovi. She’s been an active potter since about 1980. Her teachers and mentors were Eunice Navasie and Rainy Naha.

A traditional potter, some of Gloria’s designs come from potsherds she’s found lying on the ground in the vicinity of the ruins of Sikyátki. Some of her designs also come from ancient rock art she has found while hiking through the canyons of Hopi. Her favorite designs are composed of bird elements, clouds and rain.
