Hayah, Goldie
Born in 1956, Goldie Hayah is the daughter of Sarah Garcia and Chester Garcia of Acoma Pueblo. Her paternal grandmother was Jessie Garcia, one of the four matriarchs of Acoma pottery. Among her siblings were Debbie Brown, Donna Chino and Chester Garcia Jr.
Goldie grew up learning how to make pottery through watching and working with her mother and grandmother. She, in turn, taught her husband and their daughter, Juliet Hayah.
Goldie was a participant in the Santa Fe Indian Market, the Gallup InterTribal Ceremonial and the New Mexico State Fair for several years, earning ribbons at each, often for the Best Large Pot.
