Gallegos, Guadalupe

A potter from the village of Mata Ortiz, Guadalupe Gallegos has a wide repertoire of potting styles but he is best known for his finely decorated miniatures. He learned the traditional art of pottery making while hanging out at the Quezada house as he grew up. He made his first pots and decorated them in the Quezada style back around 1992, when he was 15 years old. Since then he’s spent considerable time hanging out with his uncle Hector Gallegos Sr. and aunt Graciela Martinez and they have had a significant influence on his creations.
