Ledezma, Guadalupe

Born in 1988, Guadalupe Ledezma started producing pottery in 2005. His mother, Olga Quezada, taught him how and, like her, he prefers to paint black and white designs on red clay wedding vases. He usually makes his own pots from start to finish but says he most likes forming the delicate lips that top most of his wedding vases.

Like most male Mata Ortiz potters, Guadalupe counts himself a cattleman, too. His wife is Carla Quintana Vasquez de Ledezma, one of Tomas Quintana‘s daughters. She often helps Guadalupe in different aspects of his production process.

Guadalupe has entered several of the annual Concurso Ceramica de Mata Ortiz shows, earning a Second Place ribbon for one of his effigy pots in May, 2008. In 2020 he earned a First Place ribbon at the Concurso for one of his figures.
