Jim, Harrison

Harrison Jim was a Dineh man who married Marianne Navasie (Hopi-Tewa) and moved to her home at Hopi. There he learned how to make pottery through watching and working with his mother-in-law, Joy Navasie, aka Second Frogwoman, and his wife. Then, to differentiate his works, he and Marianne began to collaborate on his designs and concepts.

Rather than making traditional Hopi pottery he followed more in the footsteps of Thomas Polacca and carved katsina figures on his pieces.
