Olivas, Ines

Ines Olivas Hernandez is a potter from the village of Mata Ortiz in northern Mexico. His sister Mathilde is the wife of Hilario Quezada and early in his career, his pottery was very much like hers, generally small black pots. His brother, Roberto Olivas, makes mostly wedding vases. Their sister, Maria Olivas, makes mostly black corrugated pots similar to those of Reynaldo Quezada.

Around 1998, Ines changed his process and started making white fish effigy pots, decorating them with red and black geometric designs.
