Shupla, Irene
Irene Shupla was a Hopi-Tewa potter, active from about 1930 to 1980. She lived most of her life in the village of Hano on First Mesa. She was a sister of Lena Charlie and Edgar Shupla, Sadie Adams was a cousin.
Irene made mostly polychrome pottery: jars, bowls and tiles, using red and black mineral paints directly on polished yellow-body clay.
