Camacho, Irving

Irving Camacho is a potter from the village of Mata Ortiz in northern Mexico. The son of Cruz Celia Villa and Alvaro Camacho, he was participating in the annual Concurso Ceramica de Mata Ortiz and earning ribbons and awards as a teenager.

Irving likes to do designs using sgraffito tools. He often incises bands of animals, then scratches a mesh design for the background.
