Sandoval, Ismael

Ismael Sandoval is a potter from the village of Mata Ortiz in northern Mexico. He’s the son of Eusebio Chevo Sandoval and Esperanza Tena.

Ismael seems to like making black and black-on-black pottery decorated with geometric designs. He and his mother also both sometimes add bands of corrugation to the surfaces of their pieces.
