Quintana, Israel

Israel Quintana Lopez is a potter from the village of Mata Ortiz in northern Mexico. He’s the nephew of Leonel Lopez Sr., cousin of Leonel Lopez Jr.

Israel seems to like slipping his white jars with multiple colors, polishing them and then, using a knife, dental tools and sharpened bicycle spokes, he etches designs incorporating birds, plants, flowers and other elements.
