Fragua, Janeth

Janeth Fragua was born into Jemez Pueblo in May 1964. Her mother was Rose Fragua, her grandmother Grace L. Fragua and her great grandmother Emilia Loretto. Janeth learned how to make pottery, mostly from her mother, as she was growing up.

Janeth makes mostly matte polychrome storytellers, koshares (koshares are members of the Clown Society: they are usually shown with horizontal black stripes on their bodies and corn husk tassels on their heads) and other figures.

Janeth was a regular participant in the Eight Northern Pueblos Arts & Crafts Show for years. Her work has also been available at the Indian Craft Shop at the US Department of the Interior in Washington, DC.
