Fragua, Joseph
Joseph Fragua was born into Jemez Pueblo in 1977. He indicated to Dr. Greg Schaaf that he learned how to make pottery through watching and working with his grandmother, Margaret Toya. He later said he was inspired to make pottery through working with Sharon Sarracino. In turn he taught Diane Lucero what he knew.
Joseph makes jars, bowls, black-and-yellow-on-red wedding vases and storytellers. His favorite designs include butterflies, hummingbirds, eagle feathers and intricate geometric shapes.
