Ortiz, Judy

Born in 1964, Judy Ortiz is a potter from Acoma Pueblo who makes polychrome storytellers, jars and bowls. She learned to make pottery by watching and working with her mother, Evelyn Ortiz, as she was growing up.

It doesn’t seem like Judy enjoyed big shows very much. The Native American Artists Resource Collection records that she was a participant at the Eight Northern Pueblos Arts and Crafts Show in Espanola in 1985. Dr. Greg Schaaf indicates she was a participant there in 1995. There are no records of her participating in any other shows.
