Gutierrez, Julie

Julie Gutierrez was born into Santa Clara Pueblo in 1965. She was the daughter of Victoria and Celestino Gutierrez, granddaughter of Rosita Velarde. Among her siblings were Eugene Gutierrez, Effie Garcia, Gail Tapia, Ethel Yazza and Sally Tafoya. Julie learned how to make pottery through watching her mother but she was also encouraged by her sisters Sally and Effie.

Julie made mostly redware and blackware jars, bowls and figures, especially animals and mushrooms.
