Cota, Karla Lopez

Karla Lopez Cota is a younger half-sister of Laura Bugarini and Elvira Bugarini. They all learned how to make pottery from watching and working with their mother, Lupe Cota Delgado, who had learned from Consolacion Quezada.

Karla mostly makes polychrome jars with sgraffito and painted bird, butterfly, branch, leaf and flower designs. In 2020 she earned the People’s Choice Award at the annual Concurso Ceramica de Mata Ortiz.
