Vallo, Kim

Kim Vallo was born into Acoma Pueblo in 1968, the daughter of Simon and Marie Vallo. Like her brothers, Leland Vallo and Thomas Vallo, she learned how to make pottery the traditional way through watching and working with her mother as she grew up. But she always said her favorite part of the process was the painting. All the way through school she was doodling and making line drawings. After she graduated she moved on to painting cast pottery (aka: greenware).

Eventually Kim heard a deeper call from the Clay Mother and she learned the entire traditional process, from gathering and coiling the clay to firing her pieces when they were finished.
