Herrera, Laurencita
Laurencita Herrera (1912-1984) was making Cochiti-style pottery from her teenage years almost until she died. In her younger years she mostly made polychrome jars, bowls and canteens. Then she moved into making figures and made her first storyteller shortly after Helen Cordero made her first one.
Laurencita was the mother of Mary Frances Herrera and Seferina Ortiz, grandmother of Virgil Ortiz, Inez Ortiz, Mary Janice Ortiz, Joyce Ortiz and Dorothy Herrera. Laurencita was also the stepmother of Felicita Eustace.
