Yepa, Lawrence

Born in 1948, the son of Nick and Felipita Yepa, Lawrence Yepa is a potter from Jemez Pueblo. There are a lot of accomplished potters in the Yepa family but Lawrence learned mostly from his mother. His pieces first entered the marketplace around 1980. He usually collaborates with his wife, Lupita Yepa, when he’s making pottery. They often make red, black or buff seed pots and jars, decorating them with sgraffito geometric designs.

Elston Yepa is his son, Alvina Yepa is his sister.
