Lovato, Lonnie
There is almost no information available about a Santa Clara Pueblo/Ohkay Owingeh potter named Lonnie Lovato. There was a Lonnie Lovato who made pottery at Santo Domingo Pueblo beginning in the 1990s. In 1993 he still fit into the “ages 18 and under” category where he earned a Second Place ribbon for polished blackware or redware. In 1994 he earned a First Place ribbon for a figure and another First Place ribbon for polished blackware. Then he sort of disappeared.
If it’s the same Lonnie Lovato, he was making pottery at Santa Clara and signing it with “Lonnie SC/SJ” in 1995.
Then there’s a “Leon Lonnie Lovato” mentioned in an obituary from 2018. If that’s the same person, he was a nephew of Angela Baca and he died sometime prior to 2018.
