Year Flower, Lucy

Lucy Year Flower was born into Pojoaque Pueblo in 1935. Twenty-some years later she married Joe Tafoya of Santa Clara Pueblo. Joe was the brother of Grace Medicine Flower and Joseph Lonewolf. His father was Camilio Tafoya, his grandmother Margaret Tafoya. After Lucy and Joe were married, he moved to her home at Pojoaque. He brought his family influence with him.

Lucy started making pottery in the 1970s, often combining carving with sgraffito in her designs. She earned numerous awards at Santa Fe Indian Market and at the Eight Northern Pueblos Arts & Crafts Show before she passed on in 2012.
