Kahe, Marcella
Marcella Kahe (1916-2008) was a Hopi potter from the village of Sichomovi on First Mesa. She was a member of the Butterfly and Badger clans. She mostly made black-and-red-on-yellow and red-on-yellow bowls, plates, jars, double spouted water vases and stew bowls.
Marcella’s parents were Emma and Hale Adams. Ramona Ami, Laverne Chaca and Burke Adams were among her siblings. Marcella was also the mother of Karen Charlie and Samuel Kahe, mother-in-law of Gloria Kahe (Dineh).
In 1993 Marcella was honored with the “Arizona Indian Living Treasure” award.
