Ascencio, Margaret

Margaret (Vallo) Ascencio was a potter from Acoma Pueblo. She was born in 1926, the daughter of James and Concepcion (Brown) Vallo. She married Harry Ascencio and they had four children. One of her sons married Bernadette Victorino and Bernadette learned how to make pottery through working with Margaret. Together, they mostly made traditional polychrome jars, bowls and seed pots, and decorated them with a mix of Tularosa- and Mimbres-Revival geometric designs.
