Coriz, Marie Edna

Marie Edna Coriz was born into Jemez Pueblo in 1946, the daughter of Louis and Carrie R. Loretto. Among her siblings were Mary Toya, Alma Maestas Concha, Dorothy Trujillo, Fannie Loretto and Leonora L. Lucero.

Marie started making jars, bowls, seed pots, Corn Maidens and storytellers for the marketplace after she married Luciano Coriz of Santo Domingo Pueblo. Luciano was Robert Tenorio‘s brother and Robert took her under his wing to teach her the Santo Domingo way. However, she always produced Jemez-style pottery, too.

Angel Bailon is her daughter.
