Aquino, Martina
Martina Aquino was a potter from Ohkay Owingeh. She lived from about 1920 to 1982. She mostly made Potsuwi’i-style pottery with a lot of rock art designs. Then in the 1970s she started collaborating with her son, Diego Aquino. He introduced her to other designs, both carved and painted. Between 1974 and 1981 she earned several ribbons at the Santa Fe Indian Market, including a First Place ribbon in 1974. Her’s and Diego’s work was also included in the “One Space/Three Visions” exhibit at the Albuquerque Museum in 1979.
