Collateta, Michael

Michael Collateta is the son of Hopi-Tewa potter Nyla Sahmie and brother of Christopher Collateta and Seth Collateta. Nyla taught them all how to make pottery as they were growing up.

From Michael we’ve usually seen small bowls and friendship baskets, made of yellow clay and decorated with designs his great-great-grandmother, Nampeyo of Hano, made famous, in mineral red and black.
