Tafoya, Mida

Mida Tafoya was born into Santa Clara Pueblo in 1931, the daughter of Victor and Christina Naranjo. Her aunt was Margaret Tafoya, her grandmother was Sara Fina Tafoya. Mida grew up in households where someone was in the process of making pottery all the time: she saw the best at work, everywhere she went, but she always said she learned the most from her mother.

Mida primarily made blackware jars, bowls and wedding vases. She preferred to carve them with variations of the avanyu.
