Antonio, Mildred
Mildred Antonio was born into Acoma Pueblo in March 1937. Her parents were Joe and Mrs. Torivio. She learned how to make pottery from her aunt, Marie Torivio. She, in turn, taught her daughters-in-law, Melissa Concho Antonio and Frederica Antonio. She sometimes collaborated with Melissa.
Like her aunt had taught her, Mildred primarily made traditional polychrome and fine line jars, bowls and wedding vases. Her favorite designs usually included deer and bears with heart lines, antelope, flowers and spiral geometric patterns.
