Young, Myrtle

Myrtle Luke Young (1904-1984) was a Hopi-Tewa potter who was active in the marketplace from 1930 to 1980. Garnet Pavatea was her sister, Harriet Nahsonhoya her daughter. She was a member of the Tewa Spider Clan and lived nearly her whole life in Tewa Village on First Mesa.

Myrtle was most famous for her piki bowls, although she made serving bowls, too. Like her sister, she painted many of them with black and red Sikyátki-Revival designs.
