Naha, Nona
Nona Naha was born to Sylvan and Edith Nash at the Keams Canyon hospital on the Hopi Reservation in 1958. Edith was an excellent potter but Nona maintained she learned more from Helen Naha and Helen’s daughters Sylvia and Rainy. She was an active potter from about 1988 until shortly before she passed on in 2021. Nona was also a noted woodcarver making beautiful kachinas.
Nona’s pottery has been noted for the thinness of her vessel walls and the fineness of her painting. As she says, “The process for me is long, and I take my time to do my best.”
Nona’s husband is Terry Naha, Terran Naha is their son.
